One of the biggest running race series in North America returns to Vancouver on Sunday, October 25; the Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon. Runners will be lacing up for the 8:15am start for what is anticipated to be a high-energy event.
The picturesque half marathon route takes runners along a scenic waterfront tour of beautiful downtown Vancouver, through the arches of Chinatown, past Rogers Arena, the glass and steel condos of Yaletown, the parks and beaches of English Bay, and through the majestic Stanley Park.
Not only is there the spectacular half marathon, but the 45th annual James Cunningham 10k race has been moved back to Saturday, October 24, which means you can participate in the remix challenge, completing both the 10k and the half marathon runs in one weekend, earning you extra bling! The 10k race gets started at 9:00am at the Inukshuk at English Bay, and follows along the entire seawall to the entrance of Stanley Park.
Of course music is an integral part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll series. Live bands perform along the race route, every couple of kilometers. The music sets the tempo and pace for runners, providing excitement, energy, and motivation as the runners pass these mini-concerts along the race route. Headlining the Sunday half marathon race is the Yukon Blonde.
All participants in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Vancouver half marathon will receive:
- Participant t-shirt
- Gear bag
- Refreshments at the start and finish lines, and along the course
- Finisher’s medal and certificate of completion
- Live course entertainment
- Admission to the finish line festival and post-race concert
The weekend kicks off on Friday and Saturday with the race expo at the Vancouver Convention Centre East. There will be over 60 exhibitors featuring the latest running gear, sport apparel, nutrition, and offering free samples. The race expo is also where all participants must go to pick up their race number, gear bag, and t-shirt.
and you can still be part of the amazing James Cunningham 10k race and Rock ‘n’ Roll Vancouver half marathon series event.
