Get your breathe taken away in Seattle this weekend as legendary 80’s band Berlin, featuring Terri Nunn, headlines the Cuff Pride Street Party. Alongside performances from Miss MeMe Disco Vinnie Matt Stands Sabrina Johnston, Melanie Amaro and Vicci Martinez, Terri Nunn and Berlin will close out the festival serving up all their delicious hits.
The band Berlin, created by Nunn, bassist John Crawford, and keyboard player David Diamond—made its debut in the music world in 1982, with the sexy single, “Sex (I’m A…),”. Berlin is known for songs like Academy Award winning lead single “Take My Breath Away” from the movie Top Gun, “Masquerade”, and “The Metro”. Berlin has a total of 12 gold and platinum albums, making it one of the most successful bands of the 1980s.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Terri Nunn has, for decades, been an lgbtqa ally and has headlined numerous pride and gay events across North America. Also an actress who once auditioned for the role of Princess Leia, Terri Nunn has toured with the band INXS and did a stint on season two of RuPaul’s Drag Race as a guest judge. Named by VH1 as one of the top 100 women of Rock, she has been seen on numerous television shows and has produced music for several movies.
“I always looked at music as passion,” says Nunn. “All we can do is appreciate that people’s passion is so strong for music… I feel it too, it’s part of my DNA, and I love what I grew up with. What I learn as I get older,” she concludes, “is that it’s not about money or ‘making it.’ Sure, they’re fun games, but it’s about connection, that’s where the real joy, passion and bliss comes from, and music is such a huge part of connecting people. It’s the way… to bliss.”
